In February, things got medical in Endsee – with the training of new company first aiders, as required by law.

Paramedic and trainer Kerstin Bucka from the Bavarian Red Cross came to Endsee to teach 12 bk employees the knowledge and skills they need to provide immediate assistance in a medical emergency.

The topics covered ranged from injuries and bleeding wounds, applying bandages, dealing with insect bites or broken teeth to acute illnesses such as heart attacks or strokes, as well as the recovery position. In addition, a lot of attention was paid to what is probably the most important topic in first aid: resuscitation.

In groups, the participants were able to perform chest compressions on mannequins and practise artificial respiration and the use of a defibrillator.

The most important thing about first aid, however, is to overcome initial shyness and get started. Because every minute can count and save lives.
