Fire safety officers are recommended for all companies in Germany in order to be able to react in the best possible way in an emergency. The bk Group also qualified new fire safety officers during a training course in April.

In the morning, they were given an introduction to the different types of fire and which extinguishing agents are used for which fire. They learned in detail about the dangers that arise in the event of a fire and how volunteer fire safety assistants can help the company in fire situations.

The various regulations in the labor protection act, ASR A2.2 and DGUV were also on the timetable. The topics covered were: Basic principles of fire protection, company fire protection organization, function and mode of operation of fire extinguishing equipment, hazards caused by fires and what to do in the event of a fire.

In the afternoon, things got hot. In practical exercises, all participants were allowed to pick up the fire extinguisher themselves and extinguish different kind of fires, like a screen fire, for example.
